This presentation will give an overview of e-cigarettes, vaping, and dabbing and the potential dangers surrounding the use of this product. Additionally, it will discuss the types of calls the Washington Poison Center receives surrounding these products and how we have attempted to address the gap through public education.
Arti Patel is a Health Education and Outreach Specialist at the Washington Poison Center (WAPC). She received her Master in Public Health from Emory University focusing her concentration on Behavioral Science and Health Education. Additionally, Arti is nationally certified as a Community Health Education Specialist by National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. In her role at the WAPC, she manages several health education and outreach programs. Those programs include e-cigarette and vaping presentation, Yukbox Education Program, Older Adult and Medicine Safety, and attending events to increase awareness of the state priorities. In addition, she also spearheads the communication side of the program by creating toxic trend reports, sending press releases, emergency communications, and informing the public of important safety concerns
