IC&RC Seeks Prevention Specialist Subject Matter Experts

IC&RC, the world leader in addiction-related credentialing, is seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to participate in a cut-score study for our Prevention Specialist (PS) examination.

Cut-Score Study Overview:  Selected SMEs will be asked to review the most recent form of the PS examination and rate its overall difficulty. SMEs will then meet via webinar to discuss their ratings. The cut-score webinar has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm eastern. More details and instructions will be sent to selected SMEs. Interested professionals must hold a PS credential through an IC&RC member board and have between 2-10 years of relevant work experience. Continuing education credits will be awarded for participation.

Application Process: Interested professionals should complete the online Subject Matter Expert Application and attach a copy of a resume or CV. Applications are due by Friday, September 30. Late applications or applications received without a resume or CV will not be considered.

Application Requirements:  Interested professionals should meet the following criteria:

  • Have 2-10 years of experience in the Prevention Specialist field
  • Hold the IC&RC Prevention Specialist credential
  • Currently work as a Prevention Specialist

In addition to the above-mentioned qualifications, interested professionals must demonstrate the following skills:

Domain Expertise: 
The SME candidate should have a good understanding of the following domains for the credential and have knowledge about the roles and duties associated with these domains:

  • Planning and evaluation
  • Prevention education and service delivery
  • Communication
  • Community organization
  • Public policy and environmental change
  • Professional growth and responsibility

Process Expertise: 
The SME candidate should have experience in the detailed day-to-day processes and skill sets associated with the credential domain areas.

Methodology Expertise: 
The SME candidate should have a clear understanding of specific methodologies and theoretical approaches associated with the credential and its specific domains.

Team Player: 
The SME candidate will have a deep appreciation for working in a group format to accomplish a task.
