Literacy is much more than reading and writing, it is about the way information and meaning is made as a person receives it, contextualizes, comprehends, and transfers the information. This process can include many different modalities—reading, writing, auditory, kinetic/sensory, etc. Understanding how literacy impacts access, inclusion, and engagement in our programming and services is critical, and should be included as a core consideration from conceptualization through evaluation.  A Literacy Consideration Framework (LCF) with be discussed and its implications for access, inclusion, and engagement of diverse communities. AnaMaria Diaz Martinez will be leading the presentation with the help of her colleague, Drew Betz. Both are faculty with Washington State University Extension and serve as Regional Family Development Specialists.
