Motivational Interviewing for Child and Adolescent Mental Health

The next lecture of the 2012-13 Workforce Lecture Series is fast approaching! It will be at 12:20-1:30pm on Thursday, November 8th in The School of Social Work Commons 305 A/B.. We are very excited to welcome Dr. Kevin King, Assistant Professor of Child Clinical Psychology at The University of Washington. Dr. King will be presenting the talk "Motivational Interviewing for Child and Adolescent Mental Health"

Kevin King, PhD is an Assistant Professor in Child Clinical Psychology at the University of Washington.  Dr. King is a member of the Motivational Interviewing (MINT network) with expertise in the treatment of children and adolescents.  His research interest centers on the etiology of substance use during adolescence, and specifically focuses on how individual differences, such as the degree of impulsiveness, interacts with the environmental and interpersonal context to produce risk across development.  He has been co-investigator on several federal level grants to examine substance use in youth and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications appearing in major journals including Addiction, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and Prevention Science.
