DUTIES:

The Washington State Department of Early Learning is currently seeking a Program Specialist 5 working out of their Olympia office. The Strengthening Families WA (SFWA) Program Manager reports to the Strengthening Families WA Administrator and will be responsible for managing DEL's key Strengthening Families WA initiatives (i.e. serving as DEL's lead liaison to the Strengthening Families WA Initiative, managing the federal Community Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) program activities, leading the development of parent leadership efforts, etc).
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social/human services, early childhood education or related field; graduate degree (Social Work or other ) preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based and promising program promoting healthy child development and parenting and the prevention of child abuse and neglect; grant making processes; contracting and contract management; evaluation; capacity-building; quality assurance processes, including ensuring fidelity to program models; providing technical assistance, raining and other supports for diverse community-based agencies/collaboration.
  • Experience working with the WA early learning community.
  • Knowledge of government organization/administrative procedures, including state contracting procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both through speech and writing.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, and database applications.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects, with accuracy and within time limits.
  • Initiative, flexibility, accountability, responsiveness and willingness to learn.
 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) which contains a "union security" provision. This means that, as a condition of employment, you must either join the union and pay union dues or pay the union a representation or other fee within 30 days of the date you are put into pay status.
