ART & SCIENCE OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZING TRAINING (ASCOT) SERIES - May-June 2021

A 6-part remote training for community and coalition leaders/organizers and substance abuse and violence prevention practitioners.

Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention (WASAVP) is excited to announce its second offering for 2021 of "The Art and Science of Community Organizing Training" series. Participants will form Learning Coalitions with other Washington State community wellness promotion professionals to explore cross-cutting themes (critical self-awareness; cultural humility and equity literacy; leading change; and promoting sustainability) as a strategy to strengthen their knowledge and skills for community engagement, organizing and mobilization.

A team of seasoned prevention practitioners work with participants to unpack 6 Tool Boxes (1) Community Outreach and Engagement; 2) Coalition Building; 3) Group Facilitation; 4) Working with Volunteers; 5) Strategic Planning; and 6) Joint Problem Solving.

The Spring 2021 ASCOT offering is spread out across five (5) weeks.
• Week One: Tuesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 12 - 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, daily.
