Drug Education Workshop

The Prevention Specialist Certification Board of Washington (PSCBW) is pleased to host this drug education workshop on November 19, 2019 at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center (19010-1st Avenue in Burien, WA) (Room C-101)

This six and a half (plus 1 hour lunch on your own) hour interactive course will include the following topics; Drugs of abuse and trends of today to include: stimulants, opioids, marijuana and alcohol. It is approved for seven (6.5) CEUs of Drug Education by the PSCBW and will count toward the Alcohol/Tobacco/and Other Drug Education IC&RC Certification Prerequisite.

Training Fee: The cost is $150 per person plus processing fee. Click on the green button, "Tickets," to pay by credit/debit card via this Eventbrite website. Paying by check is acceptable but total fee of $160.41 per person needs to be received by November 10, 2019 to secure your place in the training. Or make arrangements with organizer. Trainer: Steven Freng, Psy.D., MSW. Dr. Freng has more than 30 years experience in the substance use disorders field. In addition to being a speaker and educator, he works as the Prevention/Treatment Manager at the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), a region of 14 counties within Washington State that has been designated by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Attendance and Certificate of Completion: Upon completion of workshop and assessment forms, each participant will be awarded a certificate. The PSCBW has approved hours for this workshop to be used toward the application for a Certified Prevention Professional or Associate Prevention Professional credential. Public school personnel may be eligible to obtain school clock hours pertaining to this training through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction or through their Educational Services District; however, you must inquire directly (this service not available through the PSCBW).

How to Get to the Training: Refer to the Google map for options for how to get there by car, walking, public transportation and biking. Be sure to check in at the office and pick up an ID badge. They can direct you to Room C-101.

Parking, Food and Travel Information: Parking? Hotel? You are encouraged to dress comfortably and in layers. There will be a one hour break for lunch. Attendees are responsible for their own food, transportation, and travel costs.

Transferring your Registration: Should you be unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. Please go back into Eventbrite and edit your registration information to reflect the substitute.

Cancellation Policy: If your registration is confirmed and you find that you must cancel, please be considerate and let us know as soon as possible so others who may be on the wait list can be offered admission to the training. The registration fee will only be refunded for cancellations that occur at least two weeks prior to the start of the training or if your spot can be filled by our wait list.
