NA-SAPST

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, Behavioral Health Administration, WA Health Care Authority, has contracted with the Prevention Specialist Certification Board of WA to offer the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) to tribal Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) sub-recipients, prevention providers, and prevention coalition partners in the state.

The training includes two components: Registrants are expected to participate in both components.

1. A self-paced online pre-requisite course entitled “Introduction to Substance Abuse Prevention: Understanding the Basics”.

  • Cost: $89.
  • Additional Information: 2 of the 5 hours will qualify as drug education for CPP certification.

2. IN-PERSON SAPST TRAINING: Registrants must have completed the online course to attend.

  • June 11-June 14, 2019, Time: Tuesday-Thursday = 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday = 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Location: Spokane Indian Reservation - 6231 Old School Rd. Wellpinit, WA. 99040

Trainers: This training will be facilitated by Gerry Rainingbird and Jeri Bruneo, prevention professionals who have extensive experience in the prevention field.

Attendance and Certificate of Completion: Participants are required to attend the full 3 and 3/4 days of the training. Upon completion, each participant will be awarded a certificate. The PSCBW has approved hours for this NA-SAPST to be used toward the application for a Certified Prevention Professional or Associate Prevention Professional credential. Public school personnel may be eligible to obtain school clock hours pertaining to this training through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction or through their Educational Services District (you must inquire directly).
