Policy and Project Manager

The ideal candidate for this position will exercise significant independent judgement in decision making and is the designated state level technical subject matter expert (SME) in prevention program development using the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Strategies and responds to complex issues. This position is relied upon to formulate broad strategic direction in statewide policy and prevention system development.

Position Objective:
The Policy and Project Manager is responsible for contract monitoring and compliance with state and Federal contracts and related documentation. The Policy and Project Manager provides culturally appropriate and culturally sensitive technical assistance and training that disseminates the latest substance use disorder prevention science research for service providers, community based organizations and coalitions. The Policy and Project Manager implements statewide evidence-based prevention initiatives based on comprehensive knowledge of effective policies, planning processes, program facilitation, and evaluation through a minimum of one statewide project. This position is also responsible for a training and workforce development to ensure the State has a highly competent workforce to deliver prevention services in the highest need communities within each of our states’ 39 counties.  

Some of what you will do: 

Managing and Monitoring Contracts.

  • Review and approve annual and biennial strategic plans.
  • Document monthly compliance.
  • Track prevention contractor performance data and monitor programs.

 Technical Assistance to Providers for Effective Services.

  • Provide strategic technical assistance and training.
  • Analyze grant and project guidelines and requirements.
  • Formulate and Oversee Statewide Prevention Policy and System Improvement for the Substance Use Disorder Prevention Workforce.

Develop program and policy related to the Statewide Substance Use Disorder Prevention Workforce Training Plan, including execution of the annual plan.

  • Create and implement policy to ensure all trainings are culturally competent and that the workforce is prepared to address health disparities,  including a method for evaluation.
  • Create and implement policy to ensure the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct and support the state’s goals for a diverse workforce.

 Manage and Administer Statewide Projects.

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction related to the implementation of prevention services statewide.
