Saying It Out Loud Conference

2020 Saying It Out Loud Conference is Going Virtual!

HCA has continued to monitor the evolving situation with COVID-19 and how it will impact this year’s conference. In an effort to ensure the health and safety of all attendees, the 2020 Saying It Out Loud Conference will not be held in person; however, we will be hosting a few virtual webinars for those who can attend and participate throughout the day on May 28th from 9:00am-3:30pm. Please note, each attendee will be required to register for each webinar individually.

The Saying It Out Loud (SIOL) Conference focuses on information sharing and networking to improve behavioral health services and decrease disparities faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals.

The conference strives to provide space to educate and share knowledge with attendees to better serve and support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. Dialogue is encouraged across all topics that touch and impact individuals including understanding how difference with regards to gender identity and sexuality impact overall behavioral and physical health, self-determination and well-being.

All are welcome. Attendees in the past have included professionals from many areas such as behavioral health (mental health and substance use) across all ages and populations, non-profit agencies who serve LGBTQ+ individuals and families, child welfare, education, criminal justice, etc.

This year’s conference is scheduled to take place at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Thursday, May 28th and will mark its 19th year. The conference has had continued success and growth year after year with around 500 in attendance at the 2019 conference. The goal of the conference is to continue making an impact in the lives of individuals for years to come.

The conference is sponsored by the Health Care Authority (HCA), Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR).
