Join us as experts share what happens at the intersection of addiction, substance use disorder, online gaming and gambling. Gain a better understanding of how this compulsive use affects the brain, when to intervene, how to identify problematic behaviors and where to find helpful tools and resources. This is a joint training presentation featuring Hazelden Betty Ford, reSTART (known worldwide for innovative treatment for the digitally dependent) and Coastal Treatment Services (offering outpatient treatment for the problem gambler and their loved ones).

Objectives

  • Understand the similarities between substance use disorder (SUD) and Internet and gaming disorder (IGD)
  • Identify signs and symptoms of IGD
  • Learn assessment tools for determining if a client is on the spectrum of IGD
  • Recognize co-occurring compounded issues involving SUD and IGD
