Webinar: Leading the way! Maximizing the power of youth and young adult leadership in Communities Talk

In 2016, young people took part in more than three-quarters (76 percent) of the Communities Talk: Town Hall Meetings to Prevent Underage Drinking events held across the country and were key speakers at nearly half (48 percent) of these events. They also participated as audience members in more than a quarter (27 percent) of all Communities Talk events. To strengthen youth involvement in the 2019 cycle of Communities Talk, this webinar will explore the many opportunities to maximize their ideas and energy before, during, and after the events.

Given that youth and young adults are directly involved in the ever-present challenges that are unique to their age group, their meaningful involvement in underage drinking prevention efforts can be a powerful means for driving behavior change among their peers.

Involving youth and young adults in hosting a Communities Talk event is an opportunity to invite them to take on the role of leaders and decision-makers in framing the discussion content, selecting guest speakers, fostering partnerships, and developing materials.

With more than 700 community-based organizations and institutions of higher education currently organizing their 2019 Communities Talk event, this webinar will analyze successful strategies for youth and young adult engagement.
