Webinar: Youth suicide: Early detection of warning signs and identifying risk factor

Suicide is a complex issue and usually an intimidating topic to talk about. This webinar is an introduction to suicide prevention for school personnel. It will inform participants of recent trends in youth suicide and the potential “red flags” at various age and grade levels. Resources to support youth will be presented.

Presenter: Maureen A. Brogan, LPC, ACS is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty five years’ experience working with individuals, families, and groups around issues such as trauma, grief, bereavement, loss, and abuse. Trauma and crisis response is her specialty with suicide prevention another area of expertise. Ms. Brogan is currently the Traumatic Loss Coalition Program Manager for Rutgers, University Behavioral HealthCare; and an employee of the NJ Disaster and Terrorism Branch, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. She assisted in the production of Signs Matter: Early Detection, suicide prevention training for educators - a collaborative effort with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Legal One NJ. She is a Connect: Post-Vention and QPR Master trainer and has provided suicide prevention training to organizations throughout the state of New Jersey. She is the co-chair of the NJ Youth Suicide Advisory Council and contributed to the NJ State Plan on the Prevention of Youth Suicide. She also sits on the Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board, Suicide subcommittee for the Department of Children and Families.
